Profile

I’m the Director of Mentoring of WinS. A Queens native and the eldest daughter of her Taiwanese/Chinese-American family, she is currently pursuing a PhD in the Molecular, Cell, and Developmental (MCD) Biology Program. She is currently a member of Dr. Itzhak Mano’s lab at the CUNY School of Medicine, where she studies glutamate transporters and mechanisms of glutamate clearance in excitatory neurotransmission. She has been involved in the mentoring program as both mentor and mentee ever since she was an undergraduate at CCNY. She attributes much of her professional and personal growth to her WinS mentors, particularly former WinS members Sruti Patoori and Adanna Alexander; and inspirational educators, such as Dr. Shubha Govind and Dr. Ana Carnaval; all of whom provided exceptional guidance in navigating her through her journey as a woman in research and academia. She strongly believes that effective mentorship is instrumental in shaping one’s life, and is passionate about finding ways to help students reach the goals they identify and set for themselves.
