Office of Assessment

Office of Assessment

The Office of Assessment is committed to working with faculty, staff, and students to capture evidence of student learning in the undergraduate and graduate programs at The City College of New York. Our goal is to articulate program learning outcomes; to collaborate with Departments and Programs to collect direct and indirect assessments of student learning; and to document evidence-based improvements in teaching, learning, and curriculum.

The on-going work with Deans, Unit Heads, Chairs, Divisional Coordinators, Departmental Coordinators, faculty, staff and students includes aligning course learning outcomes with program learning outcomes; articulating multi-year assessment plans; collecting and analyzing evidence of student learning; and implementing and assessing curricular and program changes based on findings about student learning outcomes.

Our vision is to develop a culture of assessment at City College. Current initiatives include assessing the General Education curriculum; designing and facilitating assessment workshops; participating in the CUNY-wide Assessment Council; contributing to City College faculty committees and councils; leading monthly IDEAS meetings; and sharing best practices gathered from assessment-related conferences and higher-education publications.
