Nuclear Reactions in External Magnetic Fields

Nuclear stability is determined by reaction kinematics; however, these can be modified in extreme environments. We determine the conditions for stability in the presence of a superstrong magnetic field for select nuclei: a free neutron, tritium and beryllium-8. Reaction dynamics and rates are also calculated for the free neutron and tritium using V-A theory and for Be-8 using a short-range approximation. These results may be relevant in astrophysical environment.
