Physics 32300G Quantum Mechanics for Electrical Engineers Spring 2019

Grades based on: Class participation – 10%
2 midterms – 15% each
Weekly quizzes – 30% total
Final exam – 30%

1. Basic observations, problems with classical physics
2. Waves and the Schrödinger equation
3. One-dimensional problems: potential wells, barriers, tunneling
4. Quantum formalism, Dirac notation
5. Operator methods and the harmonic oscillator
6. Angular momentum and the hydrogen atom
7. Two-level systems
8. Perturbation theory
9. Identical particles, spin and statistics
10. Bell’s theorem, quantum communication
