The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by President Boudreau. He gave his announcements which were:
-
He discussed the student demonstrations amid the one year anniversary of the unrest in Gaza, and the vandalism of the Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) on the South Campus. There was also a similar incident at Baruch College, and President Boudreau discussed the likelihood of both being carried out by the same set of individuals. He highlighted more events scheduled to take place throughout the week, and urged Cabinet members to consider the potential impact of these events on campus discourse.
-
He mentioned a planned demonstration for Friday, October 11 and the potential violation of the college's demonstration policy. Student Affairs has contacted the organizers and informed them that the demonstration is unauthorized, and have also developed a document outlining the college's time, place, and manner restrictions, which will be distributed to students and available via a QR code. He stressed the need for programming to ameliorate a hostile environment, and the lack of attendance in the Sustained Dialogue sessions. Lastly, she mentioned a report on student protests that includes recommendations for campus leadership and staff members.
-
He gave an update on the student faculty disciplinary committee, emphasizing the importance of fostering a civil dialogue and preserving a safe academic environment. He noted that two out of seven nominated faculty members had agreed to serve, and urged deans to nominate committed individuals. He stated the importance of leading by example in terms of professional responsibilities and preserving the academic environment.
President Boudreau discussed the need to update the emergency plan, which includes detailed descriptions of fire marshal operations and egress paths in case of emergencies. He stated that SVP Mozeleski and Lieutenant Washington are currently working to update the current emergency plan. He suggested constituting the Safety Committee with representatives from faculty, staff, and student government, and emphasized the importance of fire marshals on each floor. He also stressed the need for a comprehensive fire safety plan for each building, and the importance of preparedness for emergencies with clear communication channels.
COO Gurba gave a presentation of the Operations Scorecard, which includes over 70 initiatives. He also presented a 3-year view of the initiatives, focusing on areas such as master planning, intranet, ERP, onboarding and offboarding, scholarships, digitized onboarding, sustainability, preventive maintenance, and strategic workforce planning. He emphasized the need for standardizing financial reporting and business continuity planning. He concluded by stating that many of these initiatives will have a timeline extending to 2026.
President Boudreau moved the conversation to the PMP plan response from CUNY. He brought up the following points from the response:
-
He discussed the challenges and potential solutions for the 4 semester course schedules across different departments. He emphasized the need for a more efficient system that allows advisors and students to view course availability for the next four semesters, aiding in better planning and decision-making.
-
He mentioned the need to improve the transfer service, citing a significant gap in the success rate compared to the desired benchmark. He also pointed out the need for better alignment between community college credits and the university's requirements. Lastly, he mentioned the CUNY transfer initiative, which he believes could be leveraged more effectively if there was better awareness and understanding of its scope and purpose.
President Boudreau stated that there will be a unified commencement ceremony for all graduates this year, with no divisional ceremonies supported by the college. Any division with the desire to organize a reception for their students is free to do so, granted that they do so using their own
resources. Any questions pertaining to this can be directed to Anthony Achille. The meeting was adjourned at 11:35am
