The 13th President of The City College of New York

Investiture Ceremony for Dr. Vincent G. Boudreau, President

An Investiture is defined as the “act or ceremony of conferring the authority and symbols of a high office,” an investiture is an academic ceremony in which a new leader is “vested” with the official powers of office. Held during a president’s first year in office, an investiture provides an opportunity to welcome a new chapter in a university’s history and celebrate as a community. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it is an academic ceremony which has symbolized the pursuit of knowledge since the Middle Ages. Today, universities around the world view investitures as opportunities to welcome a new era and celebrate as a community. We are grateful for your participation today.
