Historical Note: Records produces by the Spanish Colonial Government of  Hispaniola (Santo Domingo, República Dominicana).

Scope and Content Note: The Archivo de Indias Colonial Microfilm Collection was acquired by the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute in 2007. The collection consists of microfilmed documents created by the Spanish colonial government of Santo Domingo from approximately 1500 to 1585. The manuscripts relate mostly to the documentation of judicial functions of the colonial government, as well as its interaction with the Spanish government during the second century of the Spanish colonization of Hispaniola. The collection contains most of all the records that survived during the period and were transferred to the Archivo General de Indias, Avenida de la Constitución s/n, 41004, Sevilla, Spain. The CUNY Dominican Archives is in the process of digitizing this collection for preservation and access purposes.
