President Boudreau’s announcements were as follows:

  1. This is the last Cabinet meeting until June 12 in order to allow for the navigation of commencement season.
  2. Updates from the CUNY Council of Presidents meeting:
    1. CCNY is on an upward trajectory in enrollment this fiscal year (14.8% total increase, undergraduate 15.3%, graduate 10.9% and transfer 105% as of May 10, 2023).
    2. The executive and legislative budgets have been reconciled and CUNY will release the allocation of the budget sometime in June based on this.
  3. CUNY distributed free passes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to all colleges. A memo will be sent out for distribution to students and staff alike.
  4. Summer Fridays are scheduled to begin on Friday, June 30th and will end on Friday, August 11th. There is a minimum 50% density for working hours during summer months as well, but this is at the discretion of the department.
  5. Investment earnings on Foundation corpus are lower than last year, which means that the allocation to the college is significantly lower than last year. A data pool from COO Gurba is a  part of the Cabinet minutes agenda. It includes items that will be helpful in conversations about retention and the budget.

Dean Edwin Lamboy and Dean Juan Carlos Mercado shared their divisional plan reports for each of their departments. Dean Lamboy’s report was entitled, ‘Growth of Graduate Programs’. Dean Mercado’s report was entitled, ‘Retention, Enrollment and the Future’.

Executive Director of Institutional Research, Nikisha Williams, shared the report on undergraduate fall retention by program in each department. She highlighted key points of interest retained in the same or a different program, and not retained. She will be sending out an adjustable program retention report after the Cabinet meeting so that deans and department chairs can work with their data on their own time. She will also be available via email or zoom to answer any questions that might arise. President Boudreau tasked all deans to review the data in the report and come back with retention soft spots for the June 12 Cabinet meeting. He also pointed out that any identified concerns can be input into the Navigate system for systematic review.

Provost Liss had previously tasked the deans to evaluate the graduate programs in their departments and come back with a report focusing on the following areas:

  1. Strong programs with potential for growth
  2. Programs that are in need of improvement and plans for improvement
  3. Ways of sharing best practices from the strongest programs

Deans Gutman, Miller, Rich and Perkins shared their analyses on their graduate programs as well as needs to be addressed for improvement.

COO Gurba gave some operational updates on space rental, ARCHIBUS and asset life cycles. He will give further updates as the processes advance.

Associate Provost Strzeszewski gave a presentation on her role on the campus, the teams that she is currently a part of and her history at City College thus far.
Starting at the June 12 Cabinet Meeting, fully in-person Cabinet meetings will resume in the President’s Conference Room, A310.

Meeting agenda items were drawn up, the facilitator and presenter for the next meeting were chosen and the meeting was adjourned at 12:11pm.
