CCNY Civil Engineering Department Expands International Collaboration with the University of Perugia

Professor Anil Agrawal in Italy

The Department of Civil Engineering at The City College of New York (CCNY) is strengthening its global engagement through a new international collaboration with the University of Perugia in Italy.

During a recent visit to the University of Perugia, Professor and Department Chair Dr. Anil Agrawal met with Professor Diana Salciarini and Professor Filippo Ubertini to discuss opportunities for expanding academic and research partnerships between the two institutions.

The discussions focused on developing collaborations in teaching, particularly within master's degree programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering, while strengthening cooperation in doctoral education. The partnership also aims to establish opportunities for student, doctoral candidate, and faculty exchanges, providing valuable international experiences for the CCNY Civil Engineering community.

The collaboration builds upon existing academic relationships. In September 2024, Professor Agrawal co-founded the International Journal of Bridge Engineering, Management and Research (IJBEMR) in partnership with Consorzio FABRE, with support from Professor Filippo Ubertini and distinguished faculty from several Italian universities. This initiative has fostered international collaboration in bridge engineering research and scholarship.

Looking ahead, the Department of Civil Engineering is excited to continue expanding its international partnerships to create new educational and research opportunities for its students and faculty. The department also looks forward to welcoming faculty members, students, and delegations from the University of Perugia to CCNY in the coming months as this collaboration continues to grow.

Through partnerships such as this, the CCNY Civil Engineering Department remains committed to advancing excellence in education, research, and global engagement while preparing students to address engineering challenges on an international scale.
