Ingrid Luciano-Sánchez teaches Aesthetics, Philosophy, and Playwriting at Instituto Filosófico Pedro Francisco Bonó and Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. Her most recent writing, “Art in the Primary Classroom: work proposals for dramatic expression” was published by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) this year. Her current project “Voices and Echoes of the 21st Century Dominican Women Playwrights” is a study that explores how Dominican Women have used theatre to resist patriarchal domination. Prof. Luciano-Sánchez will examine themes, interests, and aesthetical preferences and references of Dominican women playwriters who reside in the Dominican Republic and abroad, drawing out similarities and differences among them. Her analysis will touch on a range of themes, including how these women combine their roles as writers with their roles as interpreters, directors, and producers; their awareness of other women playwrights from the past or present; and how they resist racism and patriarchal domination through theatre, among other topics.
