Biographical Note: Onésimo Guerrero was born in Bani, Dominican Republic in 1930. He received his law degree in 1959 and migrated to the United States on April 10, 1964. He was the first president of the Club Cívico Cultural Juan Pablo Duarte. In 1970, he founded the Asociación de Profesionales Dominicanos. Mr. Guerrero was very active in politics and community affairs. He received numerous awards from organizations and government entities including Instituto de Puerto Rico, New York City Office of the Mayor, Spanish American Merchants Association, Desfile de la Hispanidad, and Cento Cívico Cultural Dominicano, among others.

Scope and Content Note: The collection consists of photos, letters, press releases, awards, certificates of recognition, and proclamations. It also includes photographs with lawyers, doctors, consuls, actors, politicians, and entertainers such as Julio Iglesias, Raul Juliá, and Fernando Allende.
