2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the formal approval of the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute by the City University of New York Board of Trustees.  To commemorate this milestone, the Institute has organized a year-long series of activities that will culminate on December 6th with a formal black tie gala in the majestic landmark Great Hall of the City College of New York.  

The Dominican Intellectual Legacy Gala celebrates people of Dominican ancestry who have graduated from any campus of the City University of New York (CUNY) in any given year.  This is the only gathering of Dominican alumni in the United States that recognizes the advancement of those who have successfully completed a college degree or higher and who have secured a better future for the Dominican people here in the U.S. as well as in the ancestral land, the Dominican Republic.

The City University of New York continues to graduate the largest number of Dominican college students in the United States.  The Dominican Intellectual Legacy Gala will bring together CUNY’s 24 colleges in a joyous occasion recognizing the educational advancement of people of Dominican descent and the role that CUNY has and continues to play in their success.
