The Division of Humanities & the Arts is holding the following events to promote scholarship, creativity and professional development.

How to get the most out of Mentorship
a roundtable with Marta Gutman, Emily Greble, and Adrienne Petty 
Wednesday, September 28, 12:30pm 
 
This is a great opportunity for mentors and mentees within our division to learn ways to get the most out of their relationship with their colleagues. We will set aside time for mentor-mentee pairs to chat. Please feel free to bring a brown bag lunch. Drinks and a dessert will be served.
 
One-on-one grant proposal reviews
critique and discussion of your grant proposals

*In these meetings, a 2-person panel from within the division will read and critique your short grant proposal (no more than 2-3 pages). Meetings will last about 20 minutes and be used to discuss ways to improve your grant proposals. Participants are asked to submit a draft of their grant proposal at least 5 days before the meeting. Anyone who submits a proposal for the NEH summer stipend can use that. Please email me at apetty@ccny.cuny.edu to sign up for a proposal review.

Book Proposal Workshop with Susan Ferber, Executive Editor, Oxford University Press
Wednesday, December 14, 9:30-3:00pm (possibly will be shifted to Thursday, December 15, 9:30-3:00pm)
*In this workshop, we will read and critique book proposals with the assistance of Susan Ferber, an executive editor at Oxford University Press. While designed for junior faculty, we will accept senior faculty if there is space. Participants must pre-register and commit to circulating a draft book proposal by Monday, November 28. Drafts can take any format that works in your field and be rough, but everyone who attends must circulate a draft. We have room for 8 participants, so sign up early! One-on-one proposal reviews for grants/fellowships in the Arts
Melissa Levin, Director of Cultural Programs, LMCC
During this session, Melissa Levin will be providing individual 20-minute critiques on grant proposal in the arts, including (but not limited to) people writing grants in Art, Music, Theater, Media Arts, and Creative Writing. All participants are asked to submit a 1-2 page grant proposal in advance of the meeting for Melissa to review. Appointments will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.
