The Bursar has an appointment procedure for purchasing day parking permits. Faculty and staff need to use the queuing system that replaced the old ticketing process in the Wille Administrative Building.   Instead of going to the Bursar’s office and getting a printed ticket, you must sign up for an appointment online using your phone or computer.  You do not need to make an appointment for a reserved, evening, or a St. Nicholas Terrace permit.

You can make an appointment with the Bursar when the period opens by going to https://kiosk.na8.qless.com/kiosk/app/home/227.  You will need to select the Parking Permits for Employees link. The appointments will be spread out over several days to alleviate long lines.

A sufficient number of appointments will be available to accommodate the limited number of permits for sale.  Appointments in the middle or end of the purchase period does not mean you cannot purchase a day permit.

There will be only one transaction allowed per appointment.  If you plan to purchase additional permits for colleagues or friends, you must make a separate appointment for each day permit you wish to purchase.   The cashiers will not process multiple purchases at the windows or walk-ins without appointments.

If you miss your appointment, stop by or contact the Bursar’s Office at (212) 650-8700 for assistance.

The Bursar does not accept online or mail-in payments for parking. Payments must be made with cash, check, or money order made out to:

SOME FAQS

The parking lots are closed on weekends, holidays, and between 10:30 PM and 7:00 AM on weekdays.

Purchasing a parking permit does not carry with it any rights, nor does it guarantee a parking space. CCNY merely agrees to allow a person to park his/her vehicle on the campus if they have a permit and if an authorized space is available.

If the vehicle is registered in another person then you will need a letter from that person stating that you are the driver of the vehicle.

Our lots are commuter lots and not for residents or for storing a vehicle on CCNY property for personal reasons. It is a violation of this policy for a permitted vehicle to remain on CCNY property while the permit holder is engaging in non-CCNY related business. Anyone needing to leave their vehicle on CCNY property because of an emergency or other temporary circumstances must apply in writing to  parking@ccny.cuny.edu .

The permit holder assumes all responsibility for any damage and/or liabilities incurred to the vehicle while parked on CCNY property, including, but not limited to, theft, vandalism, damage to, or loss of, the vehicle or personal property contained in the vehicle. CCNY is not liable for personal injury, damage, theft, or loss of property arising from the exercise of parking privileges.

TO REPLACE A PERMIT:  If you lost or misplaced your permit you will have to pay $5 at the Bursar and bring the receipt to the Public Safety Parking Desk and write a statement as to how you believe the permit was lost or misplaced. You will need to fill out a new application but you won't have to bring the documents you provided when you first applied for a permit.    If your permit was stolen you will need to do the same as the above but the $5 fee will be waived if you have a copy of a Police Report.

YOU PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

ANYONE CAUGHT VIOLATING PARKING RULES AND REGULATIONS CAN HAVE THEIR PARKING PERMIT REVOKED. VIOLATIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO LENDING OR SELLING YOUR PERMIT, PARKING IN UNAUTHORIZED AREAS, MOVING TRAFFIC CONES WITHOUT PERMISSION, FAILING TO OBEY THE DIRECTIONS OF A PUBLIC SAFETY OR SECURITY OFFICER, DRIVING RECKLESSLY, DAMAGING OTHER VEHICLES OR COLLEGE PROPERTY WITH YOUR VEHICLE, ABUSING THE PRIVILEGES OF A DISABLED PARKING PERMIT, ETC.

ANYONE CAUGHT CREATING AND/OR USING A FRAUDULENT PERMIT CAN BE CHARGED CRIMINALLY AND HAVE THEIR PARKING PRIVILEGES SUSPENDED PERMANENTLY.

NEVER MOVE A CONE FROM A PARKING SPOT
YOU RISK HAVING YOUR PARKING PRIVILEGES REVOKED AND/OR HAVING YOUR CAR TOWED AWAY AT YOUR EXPENSE

NEW PROCEDURE:  YOU WILL NEED YOUR CUNYFIRST EMPLOYEE ID (EMPL ID) TO PAY AT THE BURSAR

Students cannot obtain a day parking permit but they can purchase an evening permit for $300 a year or $150 for a half year.  Evening permits are valid from 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM on weekdays.

WE SELL YEARLY PERMITS.  WE DO NOT SELL SUMMER-ONLY PERMITS NOR DO WE SELL BY THE HOUR, DAY, WEEK, MONTH, OR SEMESTER.

The parking lots are closed on weekends, holidays, and between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM on weekdays.

HOW DO I RENEW MY PERMIT?

If you renew a current Day Parking Permit that expires on December 31st, you may pay and pick up your renewal permit starting Thursday, November 30th.  You may start using the new permit on January 1st.  You can download the application here: PARKING APPLICATION.

I PAID IN FULL FOR THE FISCAL YEAR, WHAT DO I DO?

If you paid the full amount for the year you will still have to come to Public Safety with a completed application, your valid CCNY ID card, and your original Bursar's receipt to pick up their renewal permit.   If your ID Card sticker reads anything other than the current year then it is NOT VALID and you will need to get an updated ID sticker from the ID Office.

HOW DO I GET A NEW PERMIT (NOT A RENEWAL)?  THE WAITING LIST

Once we run out of permits you will need to place your name on the waiting list.  You will do this by emailing parking@ccny.cuny.edu  using your CCNY Faculty or Staff email account Email with your request (NO AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, or any other private email account - No citymail.cuny.edu or any other CUNY email).  If a permit becomes available we will offer it to the next CCNY Faculty or Staff member on the waiting list.   The Waiting list is for the fiscal year which runs from July to June.  Your request expires at the end of the fiscal year.

THE FULL PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR A PERMIT CAN BE FOUND IN ITS OWN SECTION LOWER ON THIS PAGE

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I NEED?

If you are renewing you only need to bring the new application, your valid CCNY Faculty or Staff ID card, and your original Bursar's receipt.  You do not need the other supporting documents unless there has been a change in your insurance or you are adding a vehicle.  If this is a first-time permit for the fiscal year then you will also need a copy of your vehicle registration(s), vehicle insurance card(s), and your valid driver's license.   If your ID Card sticker reads anything other than 2020 then it is NOT VALID and you will need to get an updated ID sticker.

If the vehicle is registered in another person then you will need a letter from that person stating that you are the driver of the vehicle.

We respect your time so to speed up your visit to the Parking Desk we strongly suggest that you bring a black or blue ink pen, photocopies of your documents, and a filled-in copy of your application.  We will attach the copies to your application and file them away in a secure location.

HOW DO I GET A FREE ST. NICHOLAS TERRACE PERMIT?

Follow the same procedure for obtaining a day permit minus the visit to the Bursar as no payment is required.  Fill out the application and bring a copy of your valid CCNY Faculty ID card, a copy of the vehicle's registration and insurance card, and a copy of your valid Driver's license.

WHERE DO I PAY?

All payments will be made at the Bursar's office. The Bursar accepts cash, checks, and money orders.  They do not accept credit cards for parking permit sales.

COSTS FOR THE HALF-YEAR PERIOD JANUARY TO JUNE:

Day Permits are $300 for the half-year
Reserved Permits are $350 for the half-year - Reserved permits are for Vice Presidents and Deans
Evening Permits are $150 for the half-year - Faculty, Students, and Staff can purchase evening permits

CAN I START USING MY PERMIT BEFORE JULY 1ST?

No.  You must continue to use your current permit which expires on June 30th.

CAN I USE MY OLD PERMIT AFTER JULY 1ST?

No, unless it is a St. Nicholas Terrace permit which is valid for the year that begins July 1st and ends June 30th.

CAN I PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND GET A RESERVED SPOT?

No, Reserved spots are for the President, Vice Presidents, and Deans.

WHAT IF I DON'T RENEW OR PAY FOR MY PERMIT IN TIME?

If you do not renew or pay for your permit in time it will be offered to the next person on the waiting list and you will lose your right to claim a renewal.

I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS TIME TO RENEW, WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

Permits are clearly marked with the expiration date.  We send email broadcasts to the college community about parking permit sales. It is your responsibility to renew your permit on time.   If you don't receive these emails you should write to broadcast@ccny.cuny.edu " rel="nofollow"> broadcast@ccny.cuny.edu  and ask to be placed on their mailing list.  The same information on a parking Broadcast email can be found on this web page.  Remember, if you do not renew your permit or pay by the start of the parking period it will be offered to the next person on the waiting list and you will lose your right to claim a renewal.

WHERE CAN I GET A PARKING PERMIT APPLICATION?

You can download the parking permit application here: PARKING APPLICATION.   Applications are also available in the Public Safety office, NAC 4/201. Please bring a black or blue ink pen with you and photocopies of your documents.

I DON'T PARK FOR 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR.  CAN I GET A DISCOUNT?

No.   We do not sell by semester, month, day, or hour - we sell by the fiscal year (July to June).   If you buy for the year and you no longer want the permit you can physically surrender it to the Parking Desk, NAC 4/201 and we will start the refund process.  Your refund will be for the time that remains on your permit in whole months from the date you physically turn in the permit.  The surrendered permit will be offered for sale to the next person on the waiting list.

CAN I LEND MY PERMIT TO ANOTHER PERSON OR USE IT ON A CAR NOT REGISTERED TO ME ON MY APPLICATION?

No.  If you do so you risk losing your parking privileges but you also risk having the vehicle towed since the permit is being used in violation of the rules and regulations which are clearly stated here and on the parking application.

I THINK SOMEONE IS USING A FORGED PARKING PERMIT, WHAT DO I DO?

Thank you for letting us know.  Do not approach them.  Call us at (212) 650-6911 and we will respond, investigate, and take the appropriate action.  Duplicating and/or using an altered CCNY parking permit is a crime under NYS Penal Law Section 170.10 Forgery in the second degree which is a Class D Felony and is punishable by imprisonment of one year or more and/or a fine.

HAVE YOU EVER ARRESTED ANYONE FOR USING A FRAUDULENT PERMIT?  Yes.

I HAVE A PERMIT BUT WHEN I ARRIVED THERE WERE NO SPOTS LEFT, WHAT DO I DO?

All spots are filled on a first-come-first-served basis.  We usually fill all spots on weekdays and if you arrive on campus later in the morning or early afternoon you may have to wait for a spot to become available.  The NAC lot usually fills up first and South Campus an hour or so later.

WHEN I GOT TO CAMPUS I SAW SOME EMPTY SPOTS IN THE NAC LOT, WHY WON'T THE OFFICER ALLOW ME TO PARK THERE?

Sometimes spots may appear to be available but they are not.  They are being held for reserved permit holders who asked us to hold their space for them past the 10:00 AM deadline or they are being held for one of the few guests we accommodate each weekday.

I WAS DRIVING AROUND THE NAC LOT LOOKING FOR A GOOD SPOT AND I FOUND ONE BUT IT HAD A CONE IN IT.  CAN I MOVE THE CONE?

No.  If you do we will try to contact you tell you to move your car immediately.  If you fail to move your car or we cannot reach you we may either have your vehicle towed or we may suspend your parking privileges or both.

WHAT ABOUT STUDENT DAY PARKING?

Unfortunately, there is no Day Parking for students.  Please note that students who hold a part-time job at the college and have a Staff or Graduate Student ID are not eligible.  If you obtained a permit in violation of this policy we will revoke it.  WE DO AUDITS AND CHECK THE RECORDS.

IS THERE HANDICAPPED PARKING ON CAMPUS?

Yes, we have a limited number of handicapped parking spaces in the NAC lot.  They are for disabled CCNY Faculty, Students, or Staff possessing a government-issued disabled persons parking permit and who also possess a valid paid CCNY parking permit.  The government-issued permit may ONLY be used when the actual disabled person to whom the permit was issued is traveling in the vehicle. For example, John Doe works in the CCNY XYZ Department and has a disabled child who he transports outside of his work hours. The vehicle he drives has a Handicapped Hang Tag issued for the child.  John Doe cannot park in a CCNY Handicapped Space during work if the child is not with him.   Any person who uses a disabled parking permit and abuses any privilege, benefit, precedence, or consideration arising from possessing said permit may have it revoked by the issuing agency.  THIS IS THE LAW.  If such abuse comes to the attention of the Parking Desk, we will document and inform the agency that issued the disabled permit and we will revoke the driver's on-campus parking privileges.

HOW CAN I GET A NYC DISABLED PARKING PERMIT?

In New York City you go to the NYC Department of Transportation WEB page that deals with this issue by clicking HERE.   NYC Disabled parking permits are available to both residents and non-residents of NYC.  We honor disabled persons' parking permits issued by any government authority.  Consult your local town or county clerk if you live outside of New York City.

I HAVE A MEDICAL ISSUE EITHER TEMPORARY OR LONGER-TERM AND I DON'T HAVE A HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMIT BUT I HAVE A DOCTOR'S NOTE - CAN I PARK IN ONE OF THE DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES?

No, that would be illegal.  If you want to park in a designated handicapped spot you will need a disabled parking permit.  You can get information on how to apply for one on the NYC Department of Transportation's WEB page that deals with disabled parking permits (see above).  You can apply for one outside NYC by visiting your town or county clerk.   If you have a medical issue and you request special parking privileges you will need a governmentally issued handicapped permit or hangtag.

ARE THERE PUBLIC GARAGES IN THE AREA?

Yes.  You will find options if you Google "PARKING NEAR THE CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK".  You can also try Parkwhiz.com or Parkme.com or you can Google "PARKING NEAR THE CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK".  We do not endorse any particular private parking facility.

IS THERE ANY STREET PARKING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD?

Yes, but make sure you check and obey all of the parking restrictions that are posted on pole-mounted signs.  You can get additional information by going to the NYC Department of Transportation's official Street Map: www.nycdot.info.  The interactive map shows parking restrictions street by street.

IS THERE GUEST PARKING?

Yes, but it is extremely limited.  It was designed for certain visitors to the College (ie. guest lecturers, repair technicians, etc.) and not for those attending tours, during open houses, or special events (unless the event host has arranged for parking).  It was NOT designed for faculty or staff who occasionally park on campus.  We strongly suggest you email your request to parking@ccny.cuny.edu on the requested date as we fill our guest spots every weekday.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are in the most demand while Fridays have the least demand. Our parking lots are closed on weekends and holidays.

ADDITIONAL FAQS:

Purchasing a parking permit does not carry with it any rights, nor does it guarantee a parking space. CCNY merely agrees to allow a person to park his/her vehicle on the campus, when and if a proper space is available.

Storing a vehicle on CCNY property for personal reasons is strictly prohibited. It is a violation of this policy for a permitted vehicle to remain on CCNY property while the permit holder is engaging in non-CCNY related business. Anyone needing to leave their vehicle on CCNY property because of an emergency or other circumstances must apply in writing to parking@ccny.cuny.edu "> parking@ccny.cuny.edu .

You park at your own risk.
