Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology Lab and Designated Spaces on Campus

Students who are registered with AAC/SDS can utilize the Assistive Technology Lab (ATL) as a resource for gaining access to their academic content.  The ATL contains the latest versions of assistive technology software and equipment. Below, you can find information about both the ATL and other designated areas at City College that offer assisitive technology.

Assistive Technology Lab | North Academic Center (NAC) 1/217B | 212.650.5911
The Lab offers 8 workstations equipped with assitive technology software. There are four computers that are on height adjustable tables to make it easier for students with visual impairments to access the computer. The assistive software available on these machines are : ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Abby Fine Reader, Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. All workstations have scanners available.

Monday: 9 am - 7 pm
Tuesday: 9 am - 5 pm
Wednesday: 9 am -7 pm
Thursday: 9 am - 5 pm
Friday: 9 am - 5 pm

There are three available workstations all equipped with the following assitive software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Abby Fine Reader, Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. Also available is a CCTV for students with visual impairments. All workstations have scanners available.

Science & Engineering Library | 29 Marshak Building | 212.650.8246
One workstation is available with the following assisstive software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. The workstation also has a scanner avaiable.

Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 11 pm
Friday – Saturday: 9 am – 6 pm
Sunday: 12 pm – 6 pm

One workstation is available with the following assisstive software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. The workstation also has a scanner avaiable.

Monday – Thursday:  10 am – 9 pm
Friday: 9 am – 6 pm
Saturday: 12 pm – 5 pm


Equipment/Assistive Devices
