Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology Lab and Assistive Technology Spaces on Campus

Students who are registered with AAC/SDS can utilize the Assistive Technology Lab (ATL) as an accommodation for gaining access to their academic content.  The ATL contains the latest versions of assistive technology software and equipment. Below, you can find information about both the ATL and other designated areas at City College that offer assisitive technology.

Assistive Technology Lab | North Academic Center (NAC) 1/217A | 212.650.5911
The Lab offers 8 workstations equipped with assitive technology software. There are four computers that are on height adjustable tables to make it easier for students who are wheelchair users. The assistive software available on these machines are : ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Abby Fine Reader, Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. All workstations have scanners available.

Fall 2018 Hours of Operation:
Monday & Wednesday: 9:00 am-7:00 pm
Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: 9:00 am-5:00 pm

There are three available workstations all equipped with the following assitive technology software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Abby Fine Reader, Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. Also available is a CCTV for students with visual impairments. All workstations have scanners available.

Tech Center | North Academic Center (NAC) | 212.650.8752
There are 40 workstation available with the following assisstive software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (MAC and PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC),and one station equipped with Dragon Naturally Speaking (PC). There is a map located at the entrance of the Tech Center at NAC 1/301 showing where the workstations have assistive technology. Computers indicated with a purple dot on the map or the AccessAbility sign above the computer station have assistive software.

One workstation is available with the following assisstive software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. The workstation has a scanner available.

Spring 2018 Hours of Operation:
Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 11 pm
Friday – Saturday: 9 am – 6 pm
Sunday: 12 pm – 6 pm

One workstation is available with the following assisstive software: ZoomText Magnifier/Screen Reader (PC), Jaws (PC), Kurzweil 3000 (Mac and PC), Read & Write Gold,Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ginger. The workstation has a scanner available.

Spring 2018 Hours of Operation:
Monday – Thursday:  10 am – 9 pm
Friday: 9 am – 6 pm
Saturday: 12 pm – 5 pm
