This is panel discussion on the paradoxical interdependence of U.S. Dominicans and their compatriots in the Dominican Republic. Featuring Jonathan Hartlyn (University of North Carolina), Guillermo Linares (New York City Council), Cristina Aguiar (Dominican Ambassador to the United Nations), Roberto Alvarez (Former staff attorney, Organization of American States), Adriano Espaillat (New York State Assembly), Ydanis Rodríguez (Dominican Youth Union and Dominicans 2000), Luis Heredia Bonetti (Dominican Week in the United States), and Silvio Torres-Saillant (CUNY Dominican Studies Institute). It concludes with a reading by Award-winning Dominican-American poet Rhina Espaillat author of Lapsing to Grace (1992) and Where Horizons Go (1998).
