This DVD features two video documentaries by Dominican filmmaker René Fortunato made in the mid 1980s. René Fortunato explores the lives and work of Francisco A. Palau, believed to have been the first Dominican filmmaker, and Frank Almánzar, a visionary Bauhaus-trained engraver, illustrator and cultural animator who left an indelible mark in the cultural life of the country. The VHS version includes Caribe, a musical video on African and European influences on Caribbean music. (1990. VHS 81)
