Time to Degree Completion for Students Entering the Program
Incoming students are now able to complete their coursework in three, rather than four years. This allows students to concentrate on their dissertations in the fourth year. Students are expected to select dissertation mentors by the end of their third year, and must have an approved dissertation proposal prior to applying for internship.
Please see the following tables for detailed information about time to completion, program costs, internship match rates, and program attrition.

Also, policies that allow students to enter with credit for prior graduate work, and the expected implications for time to completion, are described below.
Only Psychology graduate-level credits, either Master's or PhD-level, with a B- grade or better are transferable to our Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. The maximum number of graduate credits that can be transferred is 15 credits. Students who transfer 15 credits will only need to complete 75 credits of course work rather than the 90 credits required; transfer credits are always at the discretion of the Program Director. Should the student be permitted to transfer the maximum 15 credits, it would reduce their completion of their course work by one full semester. See more at: http://gc.cuny.edu/Page-
The Program Costs
Thanks to the remarkably generous contributions of both private donors and alumni, the Clinical Program is able to provide significant financial aid to its admitted students. Especially in the first year in the Program, when tuition is at its highest, the Program will guarantee to cover most, if not all, of your in-state tuition expenses, and will make every effort to provide further assistance if you are an out of state or international student. While financial aid is not guaranteed in subsequent years, we make it a top priority to work with you in providing some combination of stipends, work study, teaching assistantships and, in your later years of the Program, Clinical Fellowships. Tuition aid in years 2-5 of the program is in large part based on financial need, so advanced students interested in financial aid will need to complete a short financial aid form each year. Should you be invited to interview for the Program, please feel free to contact our DCT, Steve Tuber, to discuss your financial aid situation.
For more detailed information about in-state and out-of-state tuition levels please click here to see the Graduate Center's tuition information.
Requests for applications and any additional information (e.g. financial aid) should be addressed to:
