Research
: Sharline examined the period of Haitian occupation of the Dominican Republic (1822-1844), focusing on how Dominicans and Haitians sought legal accountability from the Haitian state during this time, and how the separatist movement of the Trinitarios contributed to the formation of the Dominican State. She created an annotated bibliography that addresses the sometimes-conflicting notions of citizenship and nationality among the Republic’s elite and lower social classes.
