Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

NY registered voters can vote by:

  • Early Mail / Absentee Ballot Voting
    • Apply in-person through November 3, 2025. You must also apply in-person at your county board of elections.
    • Return your completed absentee ballot by mail (postmarked by November 4, 2025) or drop off to your Early Voting or Election Day poll sites before closing.
  • Vote in-person during the Early Voting period and on Election Day

Election and Voting Dates – November 2025 General Election

Please note these key voter registration deadlines, early voting and election dates:
Absentee Ballot or Early Mail Ballot Deadlines:
November 3, 2025 Deadline to apply in-person at your local board of elections office.
Voting Dates:
October 25 – November 2, 2025 Early Voting Period
November 4, 2025 Election Day, Last day to drop-off your ballot at your poll site, last day to postmark your mail in ballot

Register to Vote - Forms and Resources

An accessible version of the New York State Voter Registration Form is available online. Completed forms must be printed, signed, dated, and mailed to the county board of elections.

Who Can Register to Vote?

  • To be eligible to register to vote you must:
  • Be a U.S. citizen (including anyone born in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam) or be a naturalized U.S. citizen (a foreign-born individual who is granted citizenship by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services);
  • Be a New York resident for at least 30 days prior to an election;
  • Be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file a form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote) ;
  • Not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction (unless parolee pardoned or restored rights of citizenship);
  • Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court;
  • Not claim the right to vote elsewhere

You also need to register to vote if:

  • You have changed your address since the last time you voted or registered to vote;
  • You wish to change your party affiliation;
  • You have changed your name since last voting
