Making Your Course Accessible
Faculty play a key role in ensuring that all content in their course is accessible to students with disabilities. All course materials, including readings, syllabi, and assignments, are strongly encouraged to be uploaded to Brightspace, the Learning Management System at City College. For public institutes like CCNY, digital accessibility is a regulatory requirement under Title II of the ADA.
Faculty are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the incredible resources on campus to support digital accessibility. All content within Brightspace can be assessed for digital accessibility using Brightspace Ally. Broadly, the CCNY Teaching and Learning Center provides in-depth resources regarding digital course accessibility and how making your course accessible will not only meet compliance needs, but deepen and strengthen pedagogy by ensuring students are able to access your course in whatever way best meets their needs.
We strongly encourage you navigate to the Teaching and Learning Center's Accessibility page to learn more, as well as book 1:1 sessions with their team to support your needs.
