Students who choose the Biochemistry Concentration tend to go into life science research or medicine and health professions. For more information about preparing for medical school, contact the Program in Premedical Studies.

Students are required to take these Chemistry and several Biology courses. They also must fulfill their General Education/Core requirements in addition to any elective and research courses they choose.

ACS CERTIFICATION

To receive certification, students in Biochemistry must also take Inorganic Chemistry (42500) and earn an additional 5-10 credits of M.A. level courses. A portion of the M.A. requirement can be substituted with up to 6 credits of Honors Research/Independent Study or a combination of 3 credits of Honors Research/ Independent Study and 3 credits of Environmental Chemistry.
