The Concrete Canoe Competition is an annual event sponsored by the ASCE. This contest requires teamwork, dedication, and creativity. Ultimately, the winner must succeed in constructing and racing a canoe against other universities at the national level. However, before winning it all, we must develop, test, and analyze our design and the materials used.
The CCNY Concrete Canoe Club is comprised of students working together towards success in this competition. Assignments vary per person, according to their individual talents and contributions. The structure may be loose, but cooperation dictates the order. A successful competition requires activities from construction to analytical modeling and research. In the process, students should develop their organizational and artisanal skills. The Concrete Canoe Club provides both a means of serving your fellow classmates and giving back to your school. It is intended that after each year, veterans walk away with an appreciation for the building crafts, a strong sense of achievement, a positive outlook towards engineering, and the motivation to always improve.
