Message from the Dean
Welcome to the 2025-2026 Academic Year!
Welcome to the 2025–2026 academic year at the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at The City College of New York (CCNY CWE). Our community continues to thrive as a model for inclusive, innovative, and high-quality online education.
Over the past year, our faculty has earned competitive grants, published groundbreaking research, and represented CCNY CWE at national and international forums. Our students have excelled as well—earning prestigious awards, scholarships, and recognition for their creativity, scholarship, and leadership. We also hosted major academic and cultural events, including the International Multilingual Creative Writing Conference (MCWC) and Americas Poetry Festival of New York (TAPFNY), the 10th International Historical Links Conference (LINKS), the 12th Americas Film Festival of New York (TAFFNY), and the inaugural FRAME FORWARD Student Video Festival (FFSVF).
With the success of our B.A. in Urban Life and Social Justice, we are proud to announce two new programs launching in Fall 2026: the M.A. in Instructional Design and the M.A. in International and Transcultural Education. These additions reflect our ongoing commitment to creating accessible and forward-thinking pathways for professional and academic growth.
As we move forward, I am inspired by the resilience, dedication, and collaborative spirit that define our students, faculty, and staff. Together, we continue to shape a community that values creativity, critical inquiry, and social engagement. I invite you to explore our programs, events, and ongoing initiatives as we build another year of growth and shared achievement at CCNY CWE.
Sincerely,
Dr. Juan Carlos Mercado
