Get all the information you need for a strong start at your new academic home at CCNY CWE. The DeanDepartment Chair, professors, academic advisors, financial aid coordinator, librarian, social worker, and Writing Center staff will welcome you, share advice, and help you understand where to find the support, assistance, and encouragement you need for a successful semester.

Since you’ll also be meeting your fellow students, orientation is a valuable networking opportunity. Update or create your LinkedIn profile (linkedin.com) so you can begin building—or expanding—your professional community.

New Student Orientations are held the week before the first week of classes—in January for students starting or returning in the spring semester, and in August for students beginning in the fall semester. Once the specific date is confirmed, the flyer on this page will be updated, and the event will also be added to our Events page (please check it regularly!).

Orientation typically takes place on a Tuesday or Wednesday in the late afternoon and lasts approximately two hours, consistent with best practices at many peer institutions.

To prepare for orientation, please download the New Student Orientation Guide and the Anatomy of a Syllabus, and review our Glossary of Important Terms for CCNY CWE Students. Familiarizing yourself with these resources ahead of time will help you feel confident and ready for a successful start.

We look forward to meeting you!
