Committee on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA+)

The Division of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at the City College Center for Worker Education (CCNY CWE) works in conjunction with the President’s Council on Inclusive Excellence to incorporate “the full diversity of backgrounds, traditions, and experience of faculty staff, and students in realizing the goal of an inclusive community that values excellence in scholarship, creative arts, teaching and learning and student development.” These aims are given special attention due to CWE’s historic mission of establishing relationships with labor unions, community-based organizations, city agencies, and employers in both the non-profit and private sectors who share this educational mission. CWE’s Committee on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) also seeks to implement the President’s mission to “encourage inclusiveness in hiring: fairness in faculty retention, tenure, and promotion; and provision of equal opportunity for all faculty and staff to use, on their merits, to leadership positions.”

Be Your Best Self

Our “Be Your Best Self” campaign places a public spotlight on students and alumni from diverse backgrounds who are achieving great things, improving their lives and contributing to their communities. Every year, we unveil a new crop of posters at the new student orientation to show our students the promise and possibility involved with embarking on their journey here at CCNY. The “Be Your Best Self” campaign simply highlights some of these outstanding stories from the Center for Worker Education.
