We write to invite you to, “Courting Justice: LGBTQ Protections, DACA, Reproductive Rights, and the Path Forward for Social Progress,” an important conversation about the three recent Supreme Court decisions and the movements for LGBTQ, immigrant, and reproductive rights, on Thursday, July 16th, 12:30pm on Zoom.

At the same time as the recent rights-focused Supreme Court decisions surprised many, they were the achievement of well-planned movements for change. On July 16th, we will discuss how the cases were won, what the three decisions mean for the movements that brought them, and the way forward in the struggle for social and political progress in the United States. The conversation will feature:

  • Tico Almeida, Founder and former Executive Director of Freedom to Work, which led the fight for LGBTQ work place protections in the United States
  • Stephanie Delia, Managing Attorney, CUNY Citizenship Now!
  • Kathryn Kolbert, Reproductive Rights Attorney; Co-Founder Center for Reproductive Rights; Argued the 1992 abortion rights case Planned Parenthood v. Casey before the Supreme Court
