Stage 1:  To fill a HEO series vacancy, please follow the steps below: 

  • Submit to HR a  Vacancy Review Board (VRB form) for review and approval
  • Once the VRB is approved, HR will notify the department for the next steps
  • Dept. submits the Recruitment Plan Approval Form and job description to the Office of Diversity and Compliance (ODC). For additional information, please visit: https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/affirmativeaction
  • ODC approves the recruitment plan, the department and HR are notified and HR begins the job posting process.  HR will notify the hiring manager of once the posting goes lives
  • The Search Committee schedules the charge meeting with ODC and the committee gets access to CUNYfirst
  • Search Committee interviews and selects finalist and then submits the Search Certification to ODC for review and approval.
  • ODC notifies the hiring manager and HR of the search certification via email
  • The approved action must be submitted to HR for HEO Screening Committee review and approval by the deadline listed above. Late submission will be held for the next HEO screening committee meeting.  

Stage 2: HEO screening Committee Review and Approval.

Stage 3: HR notifies the Department of the screening results and provide next steps.

Appointment from a Search

After a search is finalized and certified by the Office of Diversity and Compliance, submit the action to HR.

Reclassifications

Reclassification is the move to a higher title in the HEO series. For reclassification from Asst. to HEO to HEO Asst. Please follow the link below for additional information:

Substitute Appointments

Staff may be appointed temporarily to allow continuation of current operations and services and to address emergency situations. Substitute appointments may also be made to cover for individuals on certain leaves. Substitute Appointments are limited to 1 year.
