HOW DO I CLAIM MY CUNYFIRST ACCOUNT?

Instructions for claiming your CUNYfirst account may be found on the Information Technology Services (ITS) website.  Should you have difficulty claiming your account, you may call or visit the ITS service desk.

HOW AND WHEN CAN I REGISTER FOR CLASSES?

Students in good academic standing, without outstanding bills or STOPS, are eligible to register for courses via CUNYfirst. Each student is assigned an enrollment date and time which states when they can register for classes. These dates are student-specific and may vary from student to student. To determine your enrollment date, log into your CUNYfirst account, select HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login. Select Self Service, Enrollments, Enrollment Dates.

WHAT IF A CLASS I WANT TO TAKE IS CLOSED?

You may request permission to take a class that is closed (also called "over tallying"). Visit the department in which the class is offered for more information.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE THE PRE-REQUISITES?

You'll need to take them! Transfer students should be alert to the fact that their transfer credits may not faithfully transfer over. If you took a pre-requisite at another institution and it is not showing up on your CCNY transcript, you should speak with your transfer evaluator.

CAN I TAKE GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES?

In some instances, strong undergraduate students are permitted to take graduate level courses. You'll need the permission of your department advisor AND the permission of the department in which the graduate course is offered.

WHAT DOES "DEPARTMENT CONSENT REQUIRED" MEAN?

It means just that: you'll need permission from the department in which the course is offered in order to register for it.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WITHDRAW FROM A CLASS?

Students drop courses for any number of reasons. It's crucial that you pay attention to the add/drop deadlines on the academic calendar. Depending on when you drop the course, you might see a "W" on your transcript, and you may be charged for some or all of the tuition for the class.
