December 2023 Update
This month the project proceeds with the renovation of the first 3 elevators [Phase 1]. These elevators are numbered 2, 11 and 13.
Elevator #2 is the passenger in Bank A on the south side of the building (Aronow Theater).
Elevator #11 is the service elevator in the north side of the building near the loading docks.
Elevator #13 is the service elevator that services the cafeteria kitchen.
Additionally: Elevator #3, the passenger elevator in Bank B by the Public Safety office will start construction this month [Phase 2].
Phase 1 installation of the cars as well as mechanical equipment in the machine rooms will finish up this month. The elevators are planned to be tested and inspected in January 2024. These elevators are expected to be put back into operation by the start of the Spring 2024 Semester.
Furthermore, work will continue this month in the elevator lobbies with the removal of floor tiles for replacement. The VCT tiles in Elevator Banks A and B will be removed by January. Installation of the new tiles will be done soon after.
During the Spring 2024 Semester elevators 1, 3, and 5 will be replaced during Phase 2. Phase 3 will begin towards the end of Spring 2024 semester and finish during the summer of 2024.
Note: For the duration of the project, there will never be both elevators in the same bank under construction at the same time. There will be a maximum of 3 passenger elevators out of service for replacement at a time.
