Temporary Funding in Response to Grant Terminations

The Provost’s Office and Office of Research are able to provide temporary funding to faculty members whose grants have been paused or terminated AND who have exhausted all other sources of funding (e.g., 9th ledger, DROP funds, etc.).

By default, temporary funding will be offered for 30 days from the last date spending is allowed. To receive this funding, researchers must contact the Office of Research and detail budgetary information of the amount needed. Requests for extending funding will be considered on an ad hoc basis and must be submitted within the 30-day period.

The primary purpose of the temporary funding is to support research operations while the faculty member seeks alternate funding. The program is not intended to fully replace the terminated funding but to help students and staff transition to other support. Funds will only be awarded to those faculty members who have exhausted all other sources of funding (e.g. 9th ledger, DROP funds, etc.).

Priority for extended funding will be given to (in order)

  • Graduate students close to finishing a Masters or PhD
  • Other graduate students
  • Undergraduate students
