IRB: Human Subjects in Research

This information session will aid the Researcher, including research study staff, and students, to gain a better understanding of the regulatory and ethical requirements when working with research involving human subjects, or data and samples from humans. The presentation will cover various levels of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Committee review (Exempt, Expedited, and Full Committee Review), the application submission process, and the review of subsequent applications, including amendments, continuing reviews, and modifications.

Safety Stratus – EHS Tools to Assist Principal Investigators with Regulatory and Safety Compliance

Safety Stratus is a cloud-based tool consisting of modules to track safety inspections and corrective actions, and training, including chemical inventory, radioactive materials, and laboratory hazards assessments. The presentation will review the features of the Safety Stratus platform including laboratory hazards assessments; how to respond to deficiency actions; and, tracking chemical inventory or radioactive materials.

During the 2021 – 2022 academic year, the Office of Research sponsored a college-wide seed funding opportunity. The goal was to connect diverse disciplines, techniques, and ways of thinking to address challenging real-world problems and harness paradigm-shifting fundamental research. Team Climate Solidarity was selected through this competition and will provide an update on their research progress.
