Stuyvesant-CCNY Scholarship Project

Stuyvesant High School, founded in 1904 and widely acknowledged to be the most selective in New York City, has provided CCNY with many noteworthy graduates who have gone on to make their mark on the world in a variety of disciplines and professions.

This initiative recently received a donation from the Thomas J. Fararo Revocable Trust.

“CCNY’s partnership with Stuyvesant definitely encouraged me to reconsider my college plans and think feasibly in terms of finances and affordability. Since I am in a BS/MD program, this scholarship has alleviated all of my undergraduate debt and will make a small dent into the debt I will incur from medical school.

“I am an aspiring physician, and one of my long-term goals includes giving back to the community that inspired me to go into medicine in the first place: the community in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. I would love to go back and establish a healthcare clinic and create a pipeline program for underserved children, so that they can have the opportunity to experience higher education and go into the health professions.”

"When I attended CCNY, tuition was free. I donate each year so a current Stuyvesant grad can have the same opportunity that I had many years ago. Graduating from CCNY with Research Honors prepared me for graduate work that allowed me to enjoy a long career as a university professor.
